Symphonic Capital is a new venture capital firm, started by General Partner Sydney Thomas, who has supported 100s of pre-seed founders. Symphonic Capital is a brand that isn't trying to be everything for everyone. They needed a brand and website that would highlight their unique value proposition of excellence, way of working with founders, and values.

The Challenge

How can a VC firm’s brand stand out and reflect its values?

Symphonic Capital wanted a brand that conveyed confidence and authenticity without falling into the typical VC aesthetic of being overly masculine, corporate, or bland.

The Journey

Looking for inspiration everywhere

We kicked off the process by diving into Sydney’s world and vision, gathering inspiration from her Spotify playlists, favorite posters, and the founders and brands she looks up to. Armed with this inspiration, we created a vibrant palette and began sketching concepts that hit the right notes, perfectly capturing the brand’s essence.

Crafting the perfect logo

We started working on the core of the brand — the logo. Our goal was to reflect the harmony and excellence of diverse individuals coming together, much like a symphony.

Designing with values at the forefront

Our design process was driven by Symphonic Capital's core values of excellence, transparency, and collaboration. We wanted these values to be clear. This included demonstrating transparency in the process of applying for funding, showcasing how research was conducted, how conclusions were drawn, and how decisions were made.

The Solution

Behind Symphonic Capital’s new brand

Starting with brand strategy, we centered symphony as the theme in our brand conceptualization and ideation. The symphony represents the coming together of different types of instrumentalists, craftspeople at the top of their game, to create beautiful harmonies and movements. In brand identity, we elaborated on these, playing with music elements, and a color palette that is bold, playful, and elegant. We brought all these elements together in our design and build of their new website and collateral.

Entrepreneurs first: supporting early stage startups

Symphonic Capital is committed to entrepreneurs who possess the ambition and courage to solve important problems. As an early stage VC fund, the work is risky. Sydne’s experience with early stage gives her an edge — she has the network, examples, and tools to help them go to the next stage. The new website highlights Symphonic’s philosophy, the entrepreneurs, and the work that the team is/will be doing to be truly the best pre-seed venture capital firm.
